The Athletic Department would like to remind parents and prospective student-athletes of the following information as fall tryouts get closer:

1. On Monday, August 13th, Fall Coaches will collect paperwork from 3-6:00 pm in the school cafeteria. The Booster club will be selling items from their school store as well.

2. All those planning to try out, who played or tried out for a team last year, will need a physical, an athletic participation form, and a copy of a current utility bill showing proof of residency.

3. All athletes must be insured to try out. No exceptions. Proof of insurance is needed to complete the athletic participation form.

4. All incoming 9th graders and those who did not try out for a sport last year need a birth certificate in addition to the above forms.

5. All 10^th – 12^th grade students must have a 2.0 GPA and no failing grades for the 4th Quarter in order to try out. The eligibility policy does not apply to incoming 9^th grade Fall student athletes.

6. Please note, the first 2 tryouts for Golf will be Monday 8/20 from 2:00 - 3:00 pm and Tuesday 8/21 from 4:00 – 5:00 pm at Turf Valley due to course availability. All other Fall sports will begin on August 15^th. Please refer to our earlier eSchool Newsletter for times and locations.

7. Our Fall Sportsmanship meeting will be held on Wednesday, August 29 at 7:00 pm in the MRHS auditorium. A parent or guardian and the student athlete are expected to attend. It will give you the opportunity to better understand Howard County policies, and more importantly, you will get to hear from the coaches of the individual sports teams, regarding team policies, schedules, etc.
